SEA-BASINS is a multi-scaled, nested, regional synthesis and training engine that asks the questions,

What are the biophysical and, ultimately, economic consequences of changing land-use and climate on the mobilization of water and its chemical load from the land surface into the coastal zone?

What is the functional strategy for taking basic science information and translating it into water resource information and management at regional scales?

The process of implementing SEA-BASINS is to use a network of partners to develop and utilize the modeling and information engine, NAGA (mythical god of water resources). The objective is to provide a template where academics, resource agencies, and decision-makers can consider rigorous scenarios of alternative futures in making complex environmental decisions.
