Biography

Mergia did his undergraduate study at Alemaya University, Ethiopia, majoring in Agricultural Engineering. Upon graduation he was recruited as a graduate assistant at the same university. Mergia also served as a lecturer at Debub University, Ethiopia; teaching courses such as Fluid Mechanics, Irrigation and Drainage, Descriptive Geometry. He studied Physical Land Resources majoring in soil science at the Ghent University, before joining the Surface Hydrology Group of the University of Washington as a PhD student. He is currently working towards his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dennis Lettenmaier.

Current projects

Current research: a) Multi-Model Ensemble streamflow forecasting using VIC, NOAH and Sacramento Moisture Accounting/SNOW-17 models. b) Mekong/SEA VIC simulation
